DXT entered the Brazilian power market in 2014.  Since that time, its subsidiary Matrix Energia has become the second largest retail energy trading company in Brazil by volume consumed, and 3rd largest by consumer units.

Matrix is today recognized as the main independent off-taker of greenfield renewable projects in the Brazilian market with a portfolio of 18TWh, and a market maker for renewable power certificates I-RECs with over 14 TWh traded so far.

In addition, Matrix Energia offers a wide range of consulting services to renewable and conventional generation companies, distribution companies owning assets or projects, in both the regulated and free markets.

energy generation assets

The company’s strategic shift began in 2018 with the establishment of a long-term strategy and the initiation of its first Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) agreements.

Another pivotal moment followed in 2022, marked by Matrix’s decision to invest in energy generation assets.  This commitment was further strengthened with a successful Joint Venture with Prisma in June 2022, enhancing Matrix Energia’s capabilities to deploy and manage distributed generation assets in Brazil.

The goal is to reach 120 MWp by 2024, 35% of which was already operational at year end 2023.
